Welcome to the Jenny Lind Math website at Jenny Lind School. My name is Linda Rousseau and I have been a second, third grade teacher and Math Specialist/Coach at Jenny Lind School since 1995. This is my second year as the Math Specialist/Coach and an important part of my position is to provide supplemental services in Math to first through fourth grade students. Another important part of this position is to provide resources and staff development in Math for our Professional Learning Communities. Jenny Lind teachers are very committed to learning and enhancing their skills and strategies to provide the best Math instruction to our students.

At Jenny Lind the core Math curriculum used is Investigations. Grades K through 4 have a 60 minute block in which the core curriculum Investigations is taught. Each class also has 30 minutes of differentiated math instructional time. During this 30 minutes students are being taught at their instructional level which may include individual and/or small group work. Teachers, Associate Educators, or the Math Coach may be working with small groups or individuals using various strategies from Investigations and Advantage Math Recovery as well as many other math strategies. Some of the strategies are described on this site. In addition to classroom Math homework, students and families can participate in Math Word of the Week at home. There is a new Math vocabulary word each week and included on the forms are the guidelines and assignment that should be completed. Watch for the forms which will come home each week and check this website for the list of vocabulary words.
