My name is Elizabeth Corris and I am the  Assistant Principal at Jenny Lind Elementary School. This will be my third year at Jenny Lind.  Prior to this, I was the Elementary Assistant Principal at Lucy Craft Laney Community School.  I am committed to working in North Minneapolis and feel blessed for the opportunity to continue working in this community.

I was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin but chose to begin my career as a public educator in the San Francisco Bay Area. During my years of teaching 4th, 5th and 6th grades, I worked closely with my students and families to overcome the educational barriers impacting my students. I built strong relationships and remain connected to many of my former students to this day. In my years as a teacher, I grew into myself and felt pulled towards both School Social Work and School Administration. I chose to begin my work as a Middle School Assistant Principal in Oakland, California. After several years, I pursued a Master's in Social Work with an emphasis in School Social Work. I integrated my skills and interests and returned to my work as an Assistant Principal.

I hold deeply an unwavering belief in the vast potential of every student and root myself in the work of equity in our schools. I am relentless in my commitment to improving the public education system in our country, in particular for our historically most disenfranchised students and communities. I work at Jenny Lind because I believe in the endless potential of our youth in North Minneapolis. I feel honored to be working with the students at Jenny Lind and look forward to connecting with you soon.

Sincerely,

Elizabeth Corris, Assistant Principal
