Ways to Help Your Child at Home

1. Please encourage your child to read at home 30 minutes every night.

2. Encourage your child to complete his/her homework Monday through Thursday. Homework should be a review of skills. If you are finding it is extremely frustrating, please contact me.

3. Your child can practice their spelling words at home during the week. The list will be handed out on all full weeks of school. Here are some ways your child can practice:

-write each word 3x. Have your child space between each word and write every other line.

-use each word in a sentence.

-have your child sort the words (ex. verbs in one column, nouns in another, other words in third column)

-have your child alphabetize words (start with a smaller number of words before alphabetizing the whole list).

4. Your child can go to the Jenny Lind website - http://jennylind.mpls.k12.mn.us/- and go to the All Star Student SectionThey can go to safe, child appropriate websites to play fun, challenging games to practice various skills.

Thank you for all your support!
