Welcome to Room 246!!!

This will be my 24th year teaching; I'm very excited to loop and teach 5th grade at Jenny Lind! At the beginning of my teaching career I taught 5th grade for three years, I have taught 5th grade at Jenny Lind for 3 years, and I was a special education resource teacher at the middle school and elementary level in Minneapolis (Olson and Northeast!), Also, I was a CLASS special education middle school teacher, and I was a CLASS special education teacher at Jenny Lind for 4 years.

I received my Child Psychology degree from the University of Minnesota in 1990, Elementary Teaching Degree from the University of Minnesota in 1991, and my Masters in Special Education from Bethel University in 2001. I have a 24 year old son just graduated from the University of Minnesota-Duluth and a 14 year old daughter in 9th grade. In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my family, cooking, gardening, outdoor activities (walking, skiing, fishing, snowmobiling, and other water activities), craft activities, and spending time with friends.

We are so excited to be back for another school year, many exciting learning opportunities, and watching your child grow over the school year.

Ways to Help Your Child at Home

1. Please encourage your child to read at home 30 minutes every night.

2. Encourage your child to complete his/her homework Monday through Thursday. Homework should be a review of skills. If you are finding it is extremely frustrating, please contact us.

3. Your child can go to the Jenny Lind website - http://jennylind.mpls.k12.mn.us/- and go to the All Star Student SectionThey can go to safe, child appropriate websites to play fun, challenging games to practice various skills.
