Kindergarten News

Dear Families,

Welcome to Jenny Lind Kindergarten! We are so happy to meet you!

At open house your student will receive a homework reading heart , It is a year –long assignment and is easy and fun! Each day read a book to your kindergartner; then fill out a homeowrk heart with the name of the book you read, your child’s name and the date.

On the first day of school next Wednesday August 28th, 2013, send the heart tyou received back with your child to put in the homework basket. Just before going home each day during the school year, your child will be given another heart to take home to fill out after reading a book. If you don’t receive a heart one day, please make one for yourself and send it back to school.

The heart is a symbol of our partnership in the education of your child. As the year goes on, we will add PARENT HELP SHEETS to the hearts so you will know how to practice kindergarten skills with your child at home like, alphabet letter names and sounds. All year long we will glue the small hearts you send back to a large heart in our room. As the large heart grows, it becomes a wonderful symbol of the love and care you families are putting into the education of your child at Jenny Lind!

On the first day of school, Wednesday, August 28th, 2013 meet us in the lobby of the school at 9:25. Your child’s classroom teachers name will be posted on the wall so you can find us. Be sure to tell us how your child will be going home on that day and leave a telephone number where you can be reached, so that we  may call for clarification during the day if need be.

If an older child will be bringing your kindergartner to school that day, tell that child to meet us in the lobby. Neither you nor an older child should take your kindergartener to breakfast. We will take the class to breakfast as a group for the first couple of weeks. The first day of school, we will send your child’s lunch number home for you to practice.

Thank you for your support!
