About Me

My name is Jen Dowzak, and this is my fourth year here at Jenny Lind working primarily with students with autism.  I am so excited to be returning as an All-Star! I am a product of the Minneapolis Public School system and graduated from North Community High School.  I attended St. Kate's for my Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Science and minored in Coaching.  I love teaching and coaching youth!  I was a 3 sport athlete in high school and continued to expand my horizons in college.  I began my career working with students with autism in the Minneapolis Public Schools as a Special Education Assistant. I received my Autism license in Special Education from St. Thomas in 2014. This past December I also completed my Masters through St. Thomas University in Special Education with a focus on Autism.  I am very excited to be returning for my fourth year here at Jenny Lind teaching your child.

Teaching has always been a passion of mine.  I have been working with children in different capacities throughout my life but became a teacher to have a direct effect on learning.  I believe that children should have an opportunity for an education that encourages them to grow as a person and supports them to be as independent as possible.

A little bit about me:  I love sports and have been playing competitive softball for over 10 years.  I find that staying active in things that you are passionate about gives a balance to a busy life.  I hope to find out what your child is passionate about and help them build on it.  Everyone has strengths; we want to find out what those strengths are and how they can help your student learn.

It is my goal to work with you to support your student in their academic endeavors.  I hope to connect with you to learn more about your family and how we can work together as a team.  If you have any questions please feel free to email me and I will reply as soon as I can.
