Welcome to the 2017-2018 school year!

My name is Leslie Ferster. I am excited to be teaching 5th grade at Jenny Lind this year! I look forward to working with our returning students as we loop up from 4th grade and to meet our new students. We have moved to room 206 which is located just across the hall from our old classroom.

I grew up in and attended Minneapolis Public Schools. I have been teaching since 1986 and have worked fulltime in the Minneapolis School Public Schools since 1992. I received my Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from the University of Minnesota and earned my Masters of Education from Hamline University.

My goal as an educator at Jenny Lind is to work in collaboration with families to create a place where creativity is nurtured and diversity is valued.

I will work to assisst students in:

  • developing critical thinking skills and building upon their strengths.
  • setting goals and monitoring their own progress.
  • gaining and strengthening academic skills that will their support success now and in the future.
  • using their skills to communicate ideas and in making connections to the world around them.

My Hopes and Dreams for our students are that... they develop a life long love of learning, they are able to respect and celebrate each other's unique qualities, they work in collaboration with others, and that they reach their full potential.
