Welcome to the 2016-2017 school year!

My name is Leslie Ferster. I am excited to be back in the classroom teaching 4th grade at Jenny Lind this year! I am teaching Literacy with my coteacher Adrian Waters in our new differentiated model for grades 4 and 5. Fourth grade has move to the north wing. We are located in Room 203.

I have been teaching in the Minneapolis School Public Schools since 1992. I received my Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from the University of Minnesota and earned my Masters of Education from Hamline University.

This will be a busy and engaging school year. Within our content blocks AVID will now be implemented in both 4th and 5th grades. The students will be learning so much throughout the year and I look forward to watching their amazing progress along with you!

My goal for this school year is to facilitate and environment of equity and inclusion, to create a place where all students are able to be creative and  successful.

I will work with students to help them:

-develop critical thinking skills and build upon their strengths

-set goals and monitor their own progress.

-gain and stregthen literacy skills that will their support success now and in the future.

-use their literacy skills to communicate ideas and make connections to the world around them.

My Hopes and Dreams for the students are that... they develop a love of learning, are able to respect and celebrate each other's differences, can work cooperatively with others, and reach their highest potential as students and as people.
